Thoughts For The Next Race
I've been under the weather these past few days with cough, colds and fever that comes and goes. This is a horrible excuse to not workout, not that I don't like to rest but the timing is just too close to my next race - Aboitiz Tri 2015. The first two days were a pain in my back and sinus not to mention how cold it can get when the fever strikes. I skipped five consecutive meals because of this but now I'm beginning to eat normally. I've been drinking some herbal teas to speed up my recovery. Here are the three herbal teas I am currently cooking.
1. Salabat (ginger) - for my cough and colds
2. Sambong - for my temperature and kidney so I can drink medicine and flush it out completely
3. Sapang - a kind of wood that is told to be good at normalizing blood values.
As for the remaining days before the race I'm not too concerned about the planned workouts, my thoughts are in ridding myself of the phlegm that seems to choke me and the sore throat that prevents me from sleeping. I'd rather be breathing good than risk not joining the Saturday afternoon event. I was pretty much in good shape before somebody transmitted the virus to me and I'm confident I'll be on the starting line on September 12.
Good luck to all the participants of Aboitiz Tri. Let's enjoy the race and please be safe :)

Getting Sick
I've been sick for the past few days. Nothing gruesome, just a lot of coughing and a nose that runs like a waterfall. It started with my little boy, he passed the torch to his mom who in turn transmitted it to our daughter. I thought I wouldn't catch it even when all of them got sick, I was thinking I have a strong immune system in a time when I wasn't training. I was the last one to contract it and feeling desperately seeking for some magic cure. Here's what I have tried so far: ginger tea, clamansi juice, banana pineapple smoothie, malunggay soup, pineapple juice, grape juice and a cocktail of vitamins and decongestant.
The feeling is already improving - it better be coz I can smell a free race entry in the very near future (fingers crossed).
iPad Apps I Use Frequently
draft
I love my iPad and I always bring it with me. Here are some of the apps I use most of the time.

Panorama Mode - camera mode I play with all the time
Google Earth - satellite view to familiarize with a race course among other things
Blogger - a bad blogging app that needs an overhaul
SwimBikeRun Speeds - to calculate speed, distance, pace, time
Maps With Me - off-line map, I get lost time and again
Drop Box - photos, videos, docs everywhere
iBooks - for viewing race results and registration forms
IMDB - your favorite movies and actors
Offline Reader - off-line browser for storing web articles I find invaluable
Off Tangent Tuesday - December Is A Non Training Month For Me :P
draft
After my last races were canceled and postponed I got disinterested with training. I still have a couple of races in the near future but I don't even like to hit the road and prepare for those events namely Challenge 70.3 Philippines Tough and IM 70.3 Subic. Nothing seems to motivate me right now and the weather here is really cooperating. It seems futile to expect a sunny day and the coldness of the day render swimming not even worth imagining. Maybe it'll turn around in January but for the moment let me enjoy December without the sweat and panting.

Just Because...
Just because I'm thin and tanned.
"Are you a runner?" I've been asked this quite a lot and would always answer "Nope, just a jogger".
Just because my tan lines are 'well done'.
"A cyclist maybe?" - "Nope, just a biker dude".
Just because they saw me swim.
"Are you a triathlete" - "Nahh but I've done some triathlons".
Just because they saw a photo of me with a finisher's medal.
"Wow! You've won. You're fast." - "How I wish..."
Just because I'm really thin.
"You don't like eating, do you?" - "Are you kidding? I devour" :)
LESSON: Put some sunscreen! :P
